Sat, September 19 | Intro to Trad Climbing Course | Valais
Trad climbing begins where you search for your own line. No bolts, no fixed points. Only the rock, mobile protection, and your trust in what you place yourself. In clean or trad climbing, nuts and cams are used, which are removed without a trace after climbing.
In this course, you will learn how to safely place and evaluate mobile protection and use it for your own ascent. You will move through cracks, corners, and chimneys, practice jamming techniques such as hand jams, finger locks, or fist jams, and gradually build confidence in this original form of climbing.
The focus is not only on technique but also on the feel for the rock. Where does the cam hold? Where do you draw your line? And when does caution turn into confidence? Under the guidance of local experts, you will learn to be more independent, more aware, and more respectful in alpine terrain.
