Second Line – Old climbing ropes become something new

Second Line – Aus alten Kletterseilen entsteht Neues

Some things deserve more than an end. They deserve a new beginning. Second Line is our way of giving climbing ropes a second meaning. They once carried life – today they carry stories. A project that combines function, emotion, and responsibility. Handcrafted in Valais. Inspired by the Alps.

When stories don’t end – but are carried on

There are things we cannot simply throw away.

Not because they were valuable.
But because they carried meaning.

A climbing rope is more than a tool.
It is a silent companion.
It has kept people going when the ground beneath their feet was missing.
It has borne trust, taken burdens, and secured lives.
Every fiber of this rope knows the moment between fear and courage.
Between risk and security.

But at some point this first line ends.
Not because it breaks – but because its service has been fulfilled.

We believe that something new can begin right here.
That a material that has experienced so much deserves a second chance.
Not as a reminder. But as a continuation.

Second Line is our attempt to give form to this idea.
We take worn-out climbing ropes, separate them from their core – and let the sheath continue to speak.
As a keychain. As a belt. As a gear loop. As a small item you carry with you every day.
Each piece is handmade here in Valais.
With the same care with which the rope once secured lives.

The line doesn't end. It just changes its course.

In a time when we talk too often about new things and too little about what's already here, we want to listen: to the materials, the stories, to what isn't over yet.

These products are not second-hand goods.
They are second purpose .
A new chapter from old threads.
A silent proof that everything that once held can still hold something today.

For us, this is not just a sustainable project.
It's a question of respect.
Before history, before material, before life in the Alps.

Second Line is our answer to the question:
Where does a line end – and where does it begin again?

This line can continue for you too

Second Line is not a product. It's a symbol.
For what remains. For what begins again.

If you want to carry a piece of it with you,
Here you can find our handmade unique pieces.
